Onion Juice Preparation Methods

Onion Juice has continuously been used for decades as a hair treatment to promote growth.
Method 1: Squeezing/Blending/Crashing
- Peel 3-4 onions and chop them into small pieces.
- Extract the juice out of the onion by either squeezing it or using a juicer.
- Another option is placing the onion pieces into a blender and blending into a paste.
- Place the paste in cheesecloth or a sieve and squeeze all the juice out.
- Apply the juice to the scalp and along the strand. Leave this on for about 30 minutes and rinse off the juice. I personally use the treatment after shampooing my hair because the juice acts replenishes to the stripped nutrients
Method 2: Boiling
- Boil the chopped onions and then set it aside for 1-2 hours to cool. Strain the solution after cooling
- Massage the onion juice on the scalp and along the hair strands
- Rinse off the hair and apply an oil and scented moisturizer to mask the smell of the onion juice.
Method 3: Mixing the Onion Use with Other Ingredients
Onion, Coconut and Olive Oil mixture
- Peel 2-3 onions
- Grind them to get the juice,
- Strain the juice and add to it one tablespoon of coconut oil
- Add one tablespoon of olive oil.
- Mix all the three well and apply on the hair strands
- Leave it in for at least 30 minutes and then rinse off
Onions and honey hair regrowth treatment
- Take two tablespoons of honey in a bowl
- Add it one 1 cup of onion juice obtained by either squeezing or boiling
- Stir both of them until the honey gets dissolved into the onion juice.
- Apply the solution on your scalp by giving massage. Let this sit in for about 30 minutes and rinse off. Follow this remedy 1-2 times weekly to get the best results.

How to use Castor Oil in your Hair Care Routine
Castor oil has intense moisturizing properties making it a favorite among the natural hair community. Castor oil is used on hair for several reasons. It has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that prevent dandruff and scalp infections. It contains Ricinoleic acid that helps increase circulation of blood to the scalp and thus improved growth. The acid also helps balance the scalp PH which in term helps to replenish the scalp’s natural oils and reverse the damage by harsh chemical contained in many hair products

To Prevent Dandruffs
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Castor Oil
- ½ Tbsp Olive Oil
- 4 drops of Tea Tree Oil
Method
- Mix the three oils, warm in on indirect heat for better absorption
- Apply to a clean scalp 2 times a week.
As a Deep Conditioner
Ingredients
- 1 Tsp Castor Oil
- 1 Tsp Olive Oil
- 1 Tbsp Fenugreek Powder
- ½ cup Water
Method
- Soak the Fenugreek Powder in water for 5-10 min until it forms a thick paste
- Add the Castor and Olive oil into the Fenugreek Paste
- Warm the mixture in indirect heat for better absorption
- Apply to damp sectioned hair. Cover the hair and let the deep conditioner sit for 30 minutes.
- Rinse off and proceed to moisturize.
(You can vary the quantities of the ingredients depending on what works best for you, the quantities used are the ones I have experimented with on my Natural 4C Hair)
